I got called for jury duty earlier this week--ironically, both noeon and I got called for the same day in a weird statistical anomaly which turned out to be rather providential. Because the case we were called up for as potential jurors involved a man being prosecuted for allegedly molesting his daughter a significant amount of time ago. Which meant ( Read more... )

Went to church this morning. Was responsible for leading the Prayers of the People during the liturgy. During one point of the prayers, I read the first names of people who've been written down in the book of thanksgiving and concerns back in the back of the church prior to service. I crawled out of bed this morning at three o'clock after about two and a half hours of sleep to go spend three hours chanting with monks at an Easter Vigil ceremony. Today was Maundy Thursday, the first day of the Triduum in Holy Week. It's the feast day that celebrates the Last Supper, and out of all the services in the liturgical year, the Maundy Thursday service is always the one that's the most emotional for me.

I stayed late at work so I could go to the Maundy Thursday Eucharist that starts Easter Triduum. I work during all the Good Friday services and I can't go to Easter Vigil Saturday night, so this was the only Holy Week service I could make this year.
